When did you first realize you were drawn to Reiki?

I realized that I was drawn to Reiki in my mid-twenties when I sought out a psychic medium to help me figure out why I was feeling so drained and tired all the time in my life. It didn't make sense because physically there was nothing wrong with me. She told me that I was like a sponge absorbing everyone's negative energy, etc. It did make sense to me. I later found the word for it. I was an empath and the conscious shift started in my teens when I started having panic attacks. I went to doctors to figure it out, even had brains scans and everything was normal. Also, I always felt on an energetic level the lack of harmony present in the world and somehow my body automatically striving to harmonize it. I found Reiki shortly thereafter as I realized I was a natural healer trying to harmonize everyone but depleting my energy and harming myself in the interim. After reading Dr. Mikao Usui's story and that he was a Sensei, it all made perfect sense to me.

What was your experience like with learning Reiki with your teacher(s)?

Both of my Reiki experiences were life changing for me and a true blessing. After my first attunement, I felt immense inner peace and felt as though I had come home where I belonged, finally. I took two years before receiving the 2nd attunement because I needed to integrate the energy and changes fully. I started practicing hands on healing on myself immediately and on family and friends. What I really liked the best from both of my teachers was the level of integrity in the passing of the teachings. I do feel that this is key. My first Reiki teacher had hand-outs and demonstrated to me physically the Reiki hand positions. Even her cat had something to tell me at the time that we both couldn't understand at the time but that I just recently figured out. There has been nothing that I did not like about receiving my attunements. They both came from a sacred place of love and truth and has changed and blessed my life forever.

What have been some significant milestones in your Reiki journey so far?

After I received my 2nd Degree attunement, I started sending via distance healings and still self-healing myself almost everyday. I felt that it was a process and I was just going through the flow of it. I noticed many changes in myself but the most significant changes have come from about 5 years ago when I started becoming aware of energetic patterns. It's as if I could clairvoyantly see them and understand and see the energetic dynamics both negative and positive. I've always been like "Muldor" trying to find the truth and Reiki led me to that. Yes, could be scary to some but Reiki allowed me to keep a balance of neutrality that would allow me to clairvoyantly see unpleasant energies at work. Reiki showed me how these energy dynamics work, how they affect the various energetic levels, how patterns contribute to disease, what blockages are, seeing into past lives during the Reiki session and lastly the unfolding of my own innate healing ability and power that I was born with. It is just a process of self-discovery and it's been amazing to me. I came from a frail and fearful individual absorbing everyone's negative energy to someone who is empowered to cast off intimidating scary negative energy, patterns, past life karma, and blockages that actually help people. It's such a natural high for me to help others in this way and am SO eternally grateful for it. With each healing I do for another I learn about myself as well. Reiki is amazing, it's the whole package!

What does your self Reiki practice look like now?

I practice Reiki on myself almost everyday. I think this is important to keep the energy alive inside and also the more you practice it the stronger it gets. I also feel that the more you practice on healing yourself for anything, that there are like deeper initiations that one gets initiated into but that this also depends on how much your soul wants to know. It's a natural and gentle process so that is what I love about it as well. At this time I am working on-line sending Reiki energy via distance and am also working to expand this somehow to make it a career for myself. This is easier said than done though. I have never attended a Reiki share but am planning on it very soon.

What challenges have you encountered with your personal Reiki practice?

My current challenges are starting out as a Reiki business. Since I am far from a business person I really have no clue. This is a huge challenge for me and trying to figure out how to make this work. I think there are Reiki shares in my area which I'm hoping could be good for networking. I am also an artist and would like to incorporate creativity with Reiki healing somehow and am working on creating a Creative Healing workshop at this time. I am also looking for networking opportunities for growth and development of Reiki in any way possible at this time as well.

Do you have a public, professional Reiki practice?

I hope to soon!

If you do have a professional Reiki practice, tell me about it!

At this time, I work via on-line mostly, aside from the few that find me online for in-person Reiki treatments. I would say that my specialties are Creative Healing which incorporate healing via creativity and Reiki. In my Reiki sessions, I also include transmuting work which is working with the violet light or flame of transmutation for dissolving of negative energy patterns or old negative programming which keep people stuck and unable to naturally evolve. I just finished writing a Creative Healing eGuide which I will be offering for free soon.

What challenges have you encountered with your professional Reiki practice?

I definitely need more support and learning in the business aspect of it. I am just starting out and looking to put together a workshop, attend Reiki shares etc. I also need training in social media. I will be attending lectures or seminars on this because it's a new area for me as most of the last several years I have been immersed in my own healing self-discovery and have pretty much been on like a spiritual pilgrimage.

What do you envision for your Reiki practice in the future?

I envision doing what I love and what I came here to do which is using my God/dess-given gifts of healing and art. I would love to connect with other Reiki practitioners, Reiki visionaries in any way and help make the dream come true.

What do you hope and envision for the Reiki profession as a whole in the future?

I wholeheartedly have always felt that Reiki needs to become mainstream and would like to contribute to that in any way that I can.

What else would you like me to share at Reiki for a Better World?

My only concern is that I read an article online last year about trying to make Reiki a licensed profession like massage and putting it in the same category as massage therapy. I hope this doesn't become the case because Reiki is spiritual and I don't think it would help people to associate it with massage especially as this field has been associated with prostitution, etc. I think we need to protect Reiki in this way just as it protects us.
